Elastic Vibration Model development for Control Analysis

Challenge: Applying elastic vibration model to Simulink control analysis

Conducting control analysis by Simulink which includes elastic characteristics of the controlled object requires to transform FE model to the format which is able to calculate by Simulink.
In addition, when FE model is imported into Simulink, the following problems are also found in some cases.

  • Many normal modes of vibration appears which requires huge calculation time.
  • Mode animation is required by recovering vibration modes.

How to resolve pains:

Combining ESTECH.SimFlex and ESTECH.NAST+ enables to develop the followings. The modal model is easy to use because it is written by components of FE model.

  • Utilizing FE model as modal model reduces off diagonal damping matrix and selecting usable modes reduces model size.
  • Applying principal mode analysis with ESTECH.NAST+ reduces number of modes.
  • Utilizing recovering function of ESTECH.NAST+ enables to animate modes.
Strength of the Software
  • GUI makes it easy to change the set of modes for calculation which enables to conduct mode contribution analysis.
  • This approach is also available to acoustic mode analysis.
