Selecting an Impact Hammer

Select an impact hammer mainly based on the weight of the object to be excited and the excitation frequency. General guidelines are as follows.

  • Guideline for exciting the entire object.
  • If exciting only part of the object, a small/general-purpose hammer may be used.

Electrodynamic Shakers

Compact and lightweight measurement shakers are ideal for experimental modal analysis, vibration testing of small objects, accelerometer calibration, and measurement of mechanical impedance and mobility.
Modal shakers feature a high force-to-weight ratio and were specially developed to provide the best possible modal test performance with minimal setup time.
